Laurie Pollpeter Eskanazi
Driven by a deep appreciation for process and discovery, Laurie Pollpeter Eskenazi creates work rooted in pattern, texture, and memory. Her practice draws inspiration from the quiet beauty of found objects—vintage quilts, button tins, antique textiles, lace fragments, and flea-market curiosities—elements once touched by time and use. Through clay, Laurie reimagines these remnants of the past, translating their histories into richly layered stoneware forms.
Influenced by generations of women makers, Laurie’s work honors her grandmother and great-grandmother, both skilled needleworkers, and her great-grandmother’s handwoven rag rugs made from repurposed fabrics. These early impressions left a lasting imprint, shaping a visual language that celebrates domestic craft, femininity, and the poetry of everyday objects. Her pieces feel both nostalgic and new—echoes of heirlooms, reinterpreted for contemporary life.
Laurie works full time from her studio in a restored coach house beside her Victorian home in West Chicago, Illinois. Her work is widely collected and can be found in shops and galleries across the United States, Canada, and Italy.
